Use a roof area estimate to describe your commercial project, then confirm critical dimensions and conditions with the contractor.
Roof area is a useful starting point for a commercial roofing enquiry. An estimate from satellite imagery can help describe the size of a project, but it does not establish membrane condition, wet insulation, deck condition or the full construction scope.

Use measurements to prepare a project brief
- Identify each roof section included in the request.
- Record the area unit and whether the outline represents roof surface or a footprint estimate.
- Note rooftop equipment, access restrictions and any areas not clearly visible in the imagery.
- Share existing drawings or previous measurements if available.
Confirm the scope on site
Ask the roofing contractor to verify the dimensions needed for its quote and material order. Satellite imagery can be outdated, obscured or incomplete. An approximate area should not be treated as a final material quantity or as confirmation of hidden roof conditions.
